DELHI: UPSC Prelims 2016 is almost there and the market is abuzz with new speculations about the changes to be recommended by B. S. Baswan Committee. Latest to these are those about the scrapping of Optional Paper and a reduction in age limit.

According to highly placed sources, UPSC is all set to scrap the only optional from the Mains in order to provide for a level playing field. It has been further learnt that the commission is likely to provide a window of a year in order to check any large scale resentments stemming from it.

UPSC is also learnt to be mulling over to devise new ways in order to attract younger and better talent. As per the sources, UPSC is trying hard to convince the political executive for a reduction in age limits and number of attempts.

However, it is still a long way before UPSC could make these recommendations see the light of the day. Till that, it is to be kept in mind that all these prospective changes remain a mere speculation until their notification by the Commission itself.
