The Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs along with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and National Scheduled Tribes Finance and Development Corporation (NSTFDC) launched “Vanjeevan” the National Resource Centre for Tribal Livelihood issues at Bhubaneswar, Odisha on December 22, 2016

Shri Jual Oram, Union Minister of Tribal Affairs presided over the launch ceremony.

Vanjeevan will cater to the problems in livelihood issues in select districts of selected states having low Human Development Index of tribal people in the first phase and focus on the identification of local resources, keeping in view the existing skill level.

Phase wise programme implementation:

  • First phase: The states are Assam, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Odisha and Telangana.
  • Second phase: The states of Arunachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya and Tripura.

Main points:

  • Identification of the problems in issues pertaining to livelihood in districts of six states (above mentioned) having low Human Development Index (HDI) of tribal people.
  • Focus on the identification of local resources as to how the livelihood can be provided to the people residing, keeping in view the existing skill level.
  • Livelihood mapping; skill gap analysis- farm, non-farm and forest based and Skill and Enterprise Promotion in Farm and Forest-based Livelihood.
  • It will facilitate utilization of funds under various government programmes.
  • National Resource Centre (NRC) NRC will serve as a platform for livelihood mapping, skill gap analysis.


It will be knowledge hub for providing consolidation of best livelihood and entrepreneurship models for the tribal entrepreneurship development.

i am scoring 90 according to bpsc answer key.i belong to gen category . i have challenged 5 questions(LPG,KING KHARWELA,UNFCCC,PARTICULATE MATTER,AND SEAT OF AN MP).please tell me whether i should focus on mains.this is because upsc pre is scheduled on 18 june and currently facing dilemma regarding allocation of time.please reply as it will be helpful during last hours of preparation
