Drumsticks plant "The miracle tree" botanical name Moringa oleifera is the plant from which the drumsticks which is popularly named in India ‘sahjan’ it have been utilized for culinary purposes, immense nutritional benefits and use in traditional medicine.

In Maharashtra and Gujarat , the pods are commonly used in preparing a spicy curry preparation known as saragava ki kadhi.

Drumsticks are also used sometimes to add flavor to the food.

Tender drumstick leaves are used for garnishing vegetable dishes and salads.
