Some of these infertility treatments that are taught can also be made possible at home.
Reproductive problems according to Ayurveda
Ayurveda has several treatments for infertility and reproductive issues in women. In modern medicine, infertility is treated in a completely different way and can be attributed to many factors in both men and women. Ayurveda, on the other hand, considers infertility when a woman who is of biological age fails to conceive or fails to carry out a pregnancy to full term.
What causes infertility?
Infertility is quite common today due to modern lives. From diet to pollution to simply our busy lives, there are many factors that contribute to infertility. Some of the most common reasons for reproductive issues are as follows.
Ayurvedic treatments and herbs to treat infertility
Ayurveda has several treatments and herbs that can be included in the regular routine. All of these treatments are meant to detoxify and destress the body while bringing about normal hormone levels in a natural manner. It must be kept in mind that for more help, one must visit an experienced Ayurvedic doctor.
Vamanam: Vamanam is a detoxifying treatment for removing toxins from the body. In this method, the individual induces vomit in a procedure like panchakarma but it is more intense. It will take some time to get used to the process and it is suggested to go slow initially. Any undigested food stuck in the body is removed in this process and leaves a clean slate for new food to be digested. The patient is left with a feeling of higher metabolic power and better digestive power. This in turn allows for other bodily organs to work better.
Phala Gritam: Phala gritam is an Ayurvedic medicine popularly targeted for infertility among women. Technically it is a medicated form of ghee that is consumed mixed together with milk. The dosage will depend on a patient-to-patient basis and one must do so only after consultation with an expert from one of the best Ayurvedic hospitals in India. It works by removing any essential decencies in the body. Women who are already pregnant can also consume it to maintain optimum health.
Shatavari: Probably the only Ayurvedic medicine that has been proven and has tested benefits is the Shatavari. A part of the family of Asparagus, it is also an adaptogenic herb. It is a herb that helps people recover from viral infections and has antiviral properties. Studies have also shown it to work on improving the immune system and for ulcer treatments. It is also used to treat infertility in women and other disorders that occur specifically in women. It helps with breastfeeding and pregnancy as well.
Swedanam: Swedanam is another unique Ayurvedic treatment that is done to detoxify the body. Here, the sweat glands of the patients are stimulated to increase sweating or perspiration. This is done by increasing the temperature externally through a steam bath or by spending time in a sauna. It has many benefits besides treating infertility. Swedanam also helps remove stiffness in the body and helps with weight loss. The skin is also visibly bright and blood circulation is better as well. One can get this treatment done at any Ayurvedic college in Bhopal and India.
Guduchi, Gokshura, Triphala Churna: Guduchi, Gokshura, and Triphala Churna are Ayurveda based herbs that have aphrodisiac properties and are also anti-microbial. They are recommended to be used for both male and female patients by doctors. They remove blockages in the body and also boost fertility. It is also anti-diabetic, removes hypertension, and stress and is good for kidney problems.
Banyan Tree Bark: Banyan tree bark is another naturally occurring herb that is used for infertility treatments. Doctors recommend using it in powder form mixed together with honey. This powder has been used for ages as a home remedy and as a treatment for inflammation and painful ulcers and toothache. Banyan tree bark also boosts the production of growth hormones and also fertility.
Diet: Poor diet is a top contributing factor to fertility problems today. Ayurveda recommends eating as per one’s dosha. Paying attention to what one must eat and what to avoid as per their dosha, is the right to go about it. For fertility, in particular, one must eat garlic and licorice along with Jamun. A proper diet must include all the right foods like fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, nuts, and dairy products.
Exercise: Along with a proper diet one must exercise daily. Ayurveda recommends light to moderate exercises to be done every day. From walks to stretches to yoga, all can be done. Exercise is especially important to help digest food, reduce stress levels, manage hormones, and more. Yoga, in particular, has several asanas especially to help deal with infertility in both men and women.
Using Ayurveda for infertility is inexpensive and several of the treatments mentioned above can be done right at home. Ayurvedic treatments have years of expertise and knowledge backing them up. It is recommended for people, new to Ayurveda, to approach an experienced professional for more accurate and detailed help.
