IRPS To Partner With Amazon India For Music On Prime

According to a recent announcement made by Indian Performing Right Society Ltd (IPRS), the latter will be collaborating with Amazon India for its music. The publishing stock of music from IPRS will be used by Amazon Prime Music in India for Musical and Literary Works. This has come across as big news for the Amazon Prime customers.

Recently, Amazon launched Music on Prime in Indian which allowed the subscribers to stream and download over 2 lakh songs and that too ad-free. As a commercial online portal, it has been able to grab the attention of masses through various Amazon offers, allowing customers to shop at low prices.

This recent collaboration with IPRS will give the users, access to more than a million works and titles under IPRS repertoire. These songs are spread over a large variety of genres and eras of music in Indian as well as other languages.

Music lovers, who were already happy about their Amazon Prime subscription, which gave them access to many genres of songs both Indian and International, will now be further delighted to stream even more songs, making our Indian music popular worldwide.

The Government of India registered IRPS as a Copyright Society in November 2017. This was granted under the Copyright Act, 1957. IRPS is a representation of more than 4000 composers, authors and music publishers of India. Some of these music publishers are Sony, Times Music, Saregama, Venus, Aditya, and Tips Music. IPRS holds the musical works and lyrics of its members very carefully and ensures that proper legal rights are practiced for public communication of these works and titles.

The Chairman of IPRS is JavedAkhtar and he believes that collaboration of IPRS with Amazon India will bring about a new era in the music community of our country and also for IPRS. He feels that music composers and lyricists can now begin to finally reap the benefits of this new strongly united IPRS.

This will help them and other music publisher members to get all advantages of the significant changes made in the Copyright law of India. Mr. Akhtar says that he looks forward to many more of such positive relations and collaborations of IRPS with different platforms in India. This institute is committed to transparent and ethical functioning.

The Director of Amazon Music, Mr. Saras Malhotra, said that he is happy with the opportunity of getting to collaborate with IRPS. He looks forward to strengthening their ties with all other important powers of the Indian music industryaswell. He promises to provide an amazing and transformative experience of music listening with its Amazon Prime Music which is ad-free and comes at no additional cost if you are already an Amazon Prime member.

Rakesh Nigam, the CEO of IPRS, agreed with Mr. Javed Akhtar and said that this collaboration with Amazon India will bring about a revolution. He feels that working with Amazon Music in India signifies that a new change. They will continue to actively and transparently participate and indulge with even more entities like Amazon to provide a big platform to all its members along with the members of Amazon Prime.
