New Zealand is a country where gambling is extremely popular. Like their Australian neighbors, New Zealanders love to gamble at both land-based and online casinos. All forms of casino gambling and sports betting are legal on the mainland and online.

The age allowed to gamble is 18 years old, especially sports betting. However, if a young New Zealander wants to enter a casino on the mainland, he must be 20 years old. The Ministry of the Interior, which oversees the work of the 'Gambling Commission' in New Zealand, regulates the online and on-land casinos in New Zealand.

New Zealand gambling laws 2020

In 2020, a few tutorials have been provided. It is found that the Ministry of the Interior and the Gambling Act 2003 regulate all casinos and their activities in the country. However, there is no such regulation for online casinos.

Here, New Zealand players that are 18 and older can gamble online by choosing an abroad online casino. There are no local online casinos in the country. Gamblers must ensure that the casino they are choosing is within the jurisdiction and the Gambling Authority of a particular country and also allow players in their country.

It is worth noting here that gamblers from New Zealand can play at casinos overseas, but these casinos do not have the right to advertise their services in New Zealand. The Gambling Law began to function again in 2004 and the Gambling Commission, together with the Ministry of the Interior, oversees everything related to land-based casinos.

However, if you are gambling with an overseas online casino, then you must conduct responsible gambling and play if you are of legal age. This will help you to protect yourself from any kind of fraudulent activity that New Zealand laws cannot assist you.

One interesting thing about gambling in New Zealand is that if gambling is made for entertainment on online websites or offline stores, it is not taxable. But, if gambling generates professional income, it is taxed by Inland Revenue in New Zealand.
