HYDERABAD: Shikhar Dhawan, opening batsman of India was on Monday declared as the captain of IndianPremierLeague7 of Sunrises Hyderabad. The vice-captain of the sideways, SunrisesHyderabad will be West Indian Darren Sammy.

"Shikhar Dhawan with his importantimpact as a batsman in the prior IPL7 season has reserved his place in the team not just as a vital opener in the batting command but as the suitable option to spread his captaincy role in Champions League to the coming IPL as well," the release said.

"Shikhar Dhawan with his reputation for a mesmerizing score-maker, who assemblies power and smartness in equal measure, is guaranteed to lead the pack with his team-building leadership streak," it said.

Indian cricket leader Mahendra Singh Dhoni's name came up in Supreme Court on Thursday during a hearing on the IndianPremierLeague betting and fixing scandal.

However, the court said that the seventh season of the IPL can be held as arranged, the contribution of all IPL teams, including the Chennai Super Kings and the Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians.

IPL chairman Biswal has confirmed that the decision over the venues and scheduling of the seventh edition of the IndianPremierLeague will be "finalized and announced" on Friday. Bangladesh and South Africa have emerged as contenders to host the away leg of the IPL, if required, depending on the union home ministry's decree.

Sehwag, who was accepted by Kings XI Punjab in players early this year for Rs 3.2 crore, said he was looking onward to the IPL7 to come back to form and make his existence ."Last season was not good for me as I was not making more runs. But I hope I can do best in the IndianPremierLeague7. It`s a new team for me and knows players are also new. I hope I can justify the faith my new franchise has on me.
