Vidya Hits With 'Dirty Picture'' Gets National Film Awards

Mumbai, Mar, 8: Vidya Balan claimed best actress award for her work in 'Dirty Picture'' while Deool' a regional language movie gets Best Feature Film in 59th National Film Awards on Wednesday.

Marathi movie 'Deool' and Byari language film 'Byari' were impressed the most to the jury so choosen as the Best Feature Film, while another important award for the Best Actor went to Girish Kulkarni for his film 'Deool'.

'Deool' was directed by Umesh Vinayak Kulkarni and 'Byari' was directed by Suveeram.
Tamil movie 'Azhagarsamiyin Kuthari' was recognized for the best in providing wholesome entertainment, while Chiller Party a Hindi movie got the Best Children Film award.

'Anhe Ghirey Da Daan', a Punjabi Film helped Gurvinder Singh to snatch his best Director award while the best male playback singer award went to Anand Bhate for his Marathi film 'Balgandharva' at the same time Rupa Ganguly was identified for the best female playback singer for a Bengali film 'Abosheshe'.

Kumararaja Thiagarajan has given the Indira Gandhi Award for Best Debutant Director. In the non-feature film category, main award went to the film 'And We Play On' who made in Hindi and English was directed and produced by Mr Pramod Purswaen.

The awards were announced at a joint press conference by Chairman of the jury for feature film category and famous actress Rohini Hathangady,Chairman of the jury for non-feature films Ramesh Sharma and Chairperson of the jury for Best Writing on Cinema Vijaya Mulay after presenting their report to Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni here.

This year jury received as much as 186 entries in the feature film category.
