Hurricane Sandy All Set To Impact Major US Cities

New York,Oct,28:Storm forecast departments worked to pinpoint the likely landfall of the Hurricane Sandy as inched towards the Eastern Coast of US on Sunday with potential to be the powerful low pressure trough to hit the mainland.

Government officials working at emergency plans as residents scrambled to purchase supplies.US States in the Sandy's path declared emergencies and ordered mandatory evacuations of vulnerable coastal areas.

On its current projected path, Sandy is most likely to make US landfall on Monday night between Delaware and the New York/New Jersey area, forecasters warned.

While Sandy's winds were not overwhelming for a hurricane, its width was what made it exceptional.

The Sandy’s force winds extended 105 miles (165 km) from its center while its lesser tropical storm-force winds reached across 700 miles (1,125 km).

US Threat Index from The Weather Channel warned the people along the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic to be prepared for the widespread impacts.
