ITC To Start Milk Processing Plant In Bihar

Patna, Dec, 20: India’s leading tobacco Company ITC Ltd that aggressively expanding into FMCG business has began the construction of a milk processing plant in Munger district of Bihar. The Dairy processing plant will be constructed at an estimated investment of Rs 150 crore and the work will be completed by the end of 2013. 

Talking after laying the foundation stone of the Dairy plant, Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, said Bihar has enormous potential for development in milk and food processing sector due to availability of the mulching cattle and fodder in the state. 

Bihar government has decided to commission the milk processing units with capacity of 32 lakh litre milk production per day in Munger ,Khagaria and Bhojpur districts, he said.

According to Executive Director of ITC Kurush Grant the Milk plant would have two lakh liters per day milk processing capacity and it will produce 10 tone of ghee, 20 tone milk powder and 20 tone milk in pouches for domestic consumption every day. ITC has also the plans to set up two food processing units in Bihar
