Sachin Tendulkar Back On 12th Spot In ICC Test Rankings

Dubai, Aug ,20: Run Machine Sachin Tendulkar and pace bowler Zaheer Khan are inched up to the highest placed Indian cricketers as they placed at the 12th spot in the recent ICC Test batsmen and bowlers rankings list respectively.

While Sachin Tendulkar is the only Indian in the top-20 of the ICC batsman list, Zaheer Khan has the company of left arm spinner Pragyan Ojha, who held on to his 20th place, in the ICC bowler list.

English batsman Kevin Pietersen is back in the first 10 after making a century against South Africa in the second Test that ended in a draw at Leeds.

In the bowlers' list, Proteas pacer Vernon Philander has placed his career-best ranking of third, as well as career-best rating after match figures of three for 98.

 

The latest rankings were released today after the Leeds Test and also incorporate performances from the Jamaica Test, which was won by the West Indies against New Zealand by five wickets on to register a series win of 2-0.

 

England now needs to win the ongoing Lords Test, to retain their number one position in ICC rank, while South Africa need a draw to move to the top slot.

 

West Indies and New Zealand have also swapped places on the Test ranking with the Darren Sammy led side now seventh and the Kiwis on eighth.
