Globalization is the process in which ideas, goods, and people are spread across the world leading to more interaction, integration among the world economies, cultures and the governments. As the countries are adopting new changes in their social, political and economic and cultural ways it also brings new concepts and values to the society and thus creates new problems and perspectives.

History

Globalization and education are closely related since early history. One of the examples such are schools, colleges where a huge number of students gather to study this can be regarded as one the effect of globalization. In most of Africa, Asia, and Middle East countries the concept of schooling emerged for the first time during the colonial or missionary projects. During those times, schools were set up so that people get educated and work for the colonial officials and schools helped to train local people so that they could work in economic industries that would benefit the colonies. Most of the people today would disagree with this as part of globalization but this is indeed one of the first types of events where the ideas are being spread all around the world. Globalization clearly shapes the impact of education around the world by introducing certain concepts, curriculum, ideas, projects and much more.

The Role of Education

Since school plays as one of the most important way in transferring knowledge, it has a major role in globalization. Post colonialism major other subjects and its ideas were also spread around the globe. The most important aspect of globalization is that people realize that they are all part of the world and globalization is just not about the economic and political policies that ties between the countries. Since globalization, even some of the complex subjects like counseling can be learned using a computer from some of the best online counseling degree programs. There are many mediums through which people can make an impact and share their knowledge like online degree programs, exchange programs, MOOCs and much more. Globalization helps in providing formal education in various parts of the world.

Policy structures

Most of the policies provided by world banks and other leading organizations to some of the developing countries have a significant impact on globalization. These organizations help to reduce the costs of government's spending, liberalization in taxes, check the currency fluctuations, look at exports and imports and helps in making public services like education more affordable and accessible for the citizens of the country. Generally, these types of changes rely on foreign capital in the particular country, market values and much more. In terms of education, these organizations check for the policies that hinder any progression in education and suggest some better policies that will help the growth of education in terms of quality.

Cultural Aspects

One of the most important questions that one should ask is how education penetrates through other cultures that follow different systems and mediums to teach. Since globalization, most of the western teaching methods are adopted in developing nations. Most of the students can enroll in some of the best online biology degrees, physics degree, math and various other subjects that colleges provide around the globe.

Globalization on education has both positive and negative impacts as it tries to bring the whole world under certain terms however it also gives a broad exposure and different learning experience to students around the globe. Countries should accept change and see how the change affects the country's policies, education and then revise the terms.
