TSUNAMI FORMATION : Tsunami is formed due to the deep sea earthquake, the deep sea earthquake generates disturbance in the sea and energy dissipated by the earthquake results into creation of long waves at the surface of ocean. As these waves approaches towards the shore of the length of. the wave decreases and increase in the height of the wave length is noticed .When these heightened waves strike the coast it simply result in natural disaster .

REASONS FOR INDIA’S VULNERABILITY TO TSUNAMI : As we know the source of tsunami is deep sea earthquake, but the effect and damage is most on the sea coast . India has got long coastline hence it is very obvious that it is prone to tsunami devastating consequence .

Moreover, west pacific ocean store house of earthquake has resulted in worsening of the things, specifically to the eastern coast of Indian peninsular region .

MEASURES TO MITIGATE TSUNAMI IMPACT

  • Early warning system installation in the coastal areas.
  • Collaborating approach among the regional countries, because source of occurrence may be different area which the damage and lose of life can be on the different land mass.
  • Quick response and evacuation in the case of alerts .
  • Afforestation along the coastal region to minimize the affect of tsunamis.
