MUMBAI: LokSabha elections are expected in India by the months of May and June, the same months in which IPL matches are conducted every year. It is possible that IPL 7 matches are not held in India, and there are three countries in the hot stories of newspapers- Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and South Africa. Though the schedule for IPL 7 matches cannot be confirmed, but everybody seems to hear about it as soon as possible.

A report has been published in “The Indian Express”, few days ago. In this report, it is explained that it will be too early to tell about the IPL 7 Schedule. It has happened before in 2009 when nobody was thinking about the South Africa for IPL2 tournament, but suddenly BCCI announced it due to several security reasons. Since, the general elections were conducting at that time and LokSabha elections are expected now, this schedule cannot be confirmed until it is officially announced by the BCCI.

A BCCI official has given an interview in which he has also mentioned that this picture will not be clear until the announcement of dates for LokSabha elections. After this announcement, BCCI will be at position where it can confirm that whether all matches would be possible to hold in India, or they will have to consider any other country. Due to short journeys, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh can be named as hot favorite options. Thus, there is no confusion in the way of BCCI but it is waiting for the dates of elections to be announced first.

The officer further quoted IPL2 when nobody was expecting that South Africa would be selected as host for IPL tournament, until the last moment. At that time, there were many security threats in India due to general elections. In the same, the BCCI would have to consider security threats due to LokSabha elections. The best time for this announcement will be just after the confirmation of election dates.

Indian Premier League tournament is conducted in May and June, which might clash with the election as same months are being expected for the elections. So, until the final polling dates for LokSabha election are not announced, cricket fans have to wait. BCCI is considering and chalking out possible schedules for the IPL7 tournament.

On the other hand, South Africa can be expected as a host for all IPL 7 matches. But all media sources are silent and waiting for the announcement of LokSabha election dates. Before this announcement, the BCCI is not able to provide any schedule regarding IPL 7 matches.

The matches of IPL 7 are expected to happen in two phases- in India, and outside India. South Africa is not considered as hot favorite as Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, because of bad relationships between officials of CSA and BCCI.

Every year, the IPL matches are held in May and June and same months might be selected for LokSabha election. At this stage, BCCI would be at the right place to select the best destination for IPL 7 matches and present schedule accordingly.
