PUNE:Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) the prime recruiter for Maharastra Government has made its evaluation process slightly stiffer by incorporating few some changes in the negative marking system for MPPSC preliminary exams.
As per latest change 1 mark will be deducted for every 3 wrong responses instead of 4. MPSC chairman Sudhir Thakre added that the reform have been made to bring the administrative exam at par with the UPSC examination.
Other states PSC including Orissa, Karnataka, Punjab, Rajasthan, have already introduced negative marking in line with UPSC pattern to make their exams more competitive. The UPSC introduced negative marking way batch in 2007.
Thakre said on Tuesday, "We already made an announcement regarding this some days ago. We are trying to bring the MPSC at par with the UPSC and hence the change has been made."
The MPSC prelim is going to be held on April 7 and will be based on two papers - general studies and civil services aptitude test.
The MPPSC has reformed the pattern for MPSC and introduced objective type of questions. The first examination based on the new was held in September 2012. The syllabus was also revamped by MPPSC with a reduction in the papers and subsequently the total marks. The first exam based on the changed syllabus was conducted in February 2012.
The MPPSC Chairman said, "Negative marking will eliminate average students and ensure that only good quality candidates are selected through the MPSC. Such an examination system has to act as a benchmark to bring out only the best.''
The MPPSC holds around 15 examinations annually for selecting class I, II and III officers for the state government.
