Supersonic Cruise Missile, BrahMos Test Fired Successfully

JAISALMER: In order to operationalise the second regiment of the weapon system in service, the Indian Army today successfully test fired the 290 Km high range supersonic Cruise Missile at the Pokharan range.

Just after the test fire an army spokesmen stated "In conformity and pursuit of operational and strategic surface to surface missile capability development, the second BrahMos unit of Indian Army has been operationalised. The Indian Army unit successfully launched BrahMos missile and destroyed the preselected target in the field firing ranges in Rajasthan."

The BrahMos test fire was witnessed by senior most Army officials, which included Vice Chief Lt Gen Shri Krishna Singh and Director General Military Operations (DGMO) Lt Gen A K Chaudhary. After today's test fire out of three regiments two of them been operationally inducted with BrahMos.

Meanwhile, The Defence Ministry has also given approval to induct a third regiment, which will be deployed in Arunachal Pradesh along with the border of China.
