Evolution of human race has long historic and scientific lineage. The first organized settlement traces can be obtained from prehistorical "ROCK CUT CAVES" . It gives the brief understanding of way of living and conditions which led to the evolution of modern human race.

EVOLUTION OF CAVE ARCHITECTURE IN INDIA : The first ever cave settlement in available in India is "Bhimbetka" caves, Madhya Pradesh.

Architecture : Rock cut caves.

Paintings : Petrographs - Rocks are engraved and colors are filled with it. It contains themes of hunting. Animals and others birds depicted.

Next in is the series comes Ajanta caves, Aurangabad, Maharashtra.

Architecture : Rock cut caves basically horse shoe shape.

Paintings : Fresco Paintings can be seen on the walls of cave (MURAL PAINTING). Theme of the Paintings is basically Jataka Stories Buddhism.

Additional Features : Small stupas can be seen in the caves.

Next comes in the series is ELLORA CAVES.

Architecture : Rock cut caves and the caves are built on the sloping side of the mountains.

Prominent Features: Kailash Nath Temple is the monotonic structure have been an Example of excellent architectural skills.

Design : It contains Chaityas and Viharas and have been accessed by Jians as well as Buddhist monks.

Paintings : Mural Painting can be seen there.

ELEPHANTA CAVES : Situated off shore of Mumbai coast and has by the monolithic of hindu dities are dominance can be seen here.

UPPAR KOT : One of the most important caves with regard to the architectural design, cut is made at the bottom and stairs are made upward direction leading to the final cave.

So, All in all that systematic study of cave architecture, design and Paintings available on the walls presents the growth story of human civilization and it reflects the Socio-Cultural conditions available at that different phases of civilization.
