Any program related to weight loss or a good diet doesn't depend on "what's on your plate" but it begins with "what's in your mind". The will power is an amazing skill which can transform you and strengthen yourself. The more you say YES to oily food being passed around, the more difficult it would be to say NO the next time; it is as simple as that.

The first key learning towards a good diet is to know your intake requirement; most of the people finish their plate even if they are full. Instead of that you must take the required amount and the most important tip is to always keep your stomach little empty so that at last you can have a fruit or sweet of low calorie.

Now coming on to the speciality of Indian Food. Indian people love fried food. Many people find it very difficult to cut fried food out of their diet. You must understand that a healthy weight control does require you to cut on fried foods. If you are so much desperate to eat fried food then you must drain the excess oil or soak it on a tissue paper. Oil usually contain lots of saturated fat in it which makes you fat, the saturated fat you consume only 10% of it being converted into energy and rest stored as FAT and you become FAT. But there's also a healthy way of consuming fat through unsaturated fat "a must for you". Fish, corn oil, olive oil, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, pecans etc. have high levels of unsaturated fats in them. These are good varieties of fats unlike the bad saturated fat found in ghee, palm oil, full-fat cheese, whole milk dairy products etc. So have a low saturated fat else unsaturated fat in your diet.

FACT: Fat provides energy of 9 calories per gram.Consume fat according to the daily energy requirement of your body.

The second most concerned area is about RICE. Majority of the people are confused and they have the prominent query that "If carbohydrates can make you fat then why were some population thin while eating a high carbohydrates diet? "

FACT: Rice mainly contains carbohydrates.The main reasons are:

  • Doing more physical activity makes you slim even on high carbohydrates diet. Compare a farmer to an officer with a car; you can make a clear difference out of it.
  • Eating mainly brown rice that is slow to digest, high fibre content etc.

If you consume rice in small portion, you will not gain weight. Brown rice is healthier than polished rice since it has more of minerals and vitamins. Polished rice is more of carbohydrates in it.

Also people should know the fact about POTATO. "Whether potato makes you fat?"

It all depends on how you eat potato. If you deep fry them and soak in oil, the unhealthy fats will make you add a couple of pounds. Potatoes are not fattening, they have several health benefits only the method of cooking makes a difference. Therefore, potatoes do not makes you fat if you roast, boil or steam them.
